Job Title: Business Analyst (Education Sector)

Location: Edinburgh (Hybrid)
Contract: 6 Months (Potential Extension)

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst for a 6-month contract role in Edinburgh, with the potential for extension into 2025. The ideal candidate must have prior experience working in the education sector, specifically within schools. You will play a critical role in the analysis, design, and implementation planning of new systems for educational institutions.  This is at a critical stage for this School who are implementing an MIS therefore its important that you have had prior experience of MIS implementation and used to carrying out workshops with teachers and the board.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Requirements Elicitation and Documentation:
    • Gather, document, and analyze the future systems requirements for schools through comprehensive user stories and stakeholder interviews.
  • Cost/Benefit Analysis and Business Case Development:
    • Conduct a detailed cost/benefit analysis of different system requirement options.
    • Prepare and present a thorough business case to support decision-making on system installations.
  • Process Design and Review:
    • Design and review ‘to-be’ processes that align with the new systems to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in supporting school operations.
  • Implementation Planning and Commercial Negotiation:
    • Provide support for the implementation planning of the new system.
    • Assist in commercial negotiations to secure contracts and partnerships related to system installations.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst, preferably within the education sector, with a strong focus on schools.
  • Demonstrable experience in requirements gathering, particularly using user stories.
  • Strong background in cost/benefit analysis and business case creation.
  • Expertise in reviewing and designing business processes to improve system functionality.
  • Ability to support implementation planning and contribute to commercial negotiations.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Contract Details:

  • Duration: 6 months (until the end of December 2024), with the potential for extension.
  • Location: Edinburgh (with some flexibility for hybrid working).
