Job Overview:
The Employee Relations Advisor will play a critical role in managing and resolving employee relations matters, ensuring a fair and consistent approach is applied across the organization. You will provide expert advice and guidance on a wide range of ER issues, from grievances and disciplinary processes to performance management and conflict resolution. Your role will involve working closely with managers and employees to promote a healthy and compliant work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert advice and guidance to managers and employees on employee relations issues, including disciplinary actions, grievances, conflict resolution, and performance management
- Ensure that all employee relations matters are managed in compliance with employment law and company policies
- Conduct investigations into employee grievances, disciplinary issues, and workplace disputes, ensuring a thorough and impartial process
- Work closely with HR Business Partners and managers to develop action plans to address employee relations issues and prevent recurrence
- Support managers with handling complex performance issues, including formal procedures such as warnings and dismissals
- Coach and guide managers on best practices for managing their teams and handling sensitive ER issues
- Contribute to the development and updating of company policies and procedures to reflect current legislation and best practice in employee relations
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation of all employee relations cases
- Deliver training and workshops to line managers on ER topics, such as conflict resolution, conducting investigations, and managing performance
- Monitor and analyze ER trends to identify areas for improvement and develop proactive solutions
- Maintain knowledge of employment law and industry trends to ensure compliance and improve employee relations practices
Requirements:
- Proven experience in an Employee Relations Advisor or similar role
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations best practices
- Experience managing complex ER cases, including grievances, disciplinary actions, and performance management
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong working relationships across all levels of the organization
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential issues with discretion
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases with competing deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficiency in HR systems and Microsoft Office applications
Desirable:
- CIPD qualification (Level 5 or above)
- Experience working in a fast-paced or unionized environment
- Experience delivering ER training or workshops
