Job Overview:
As the HR and Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day HR operations, managing employee relations issues, and ensuring compliance with employment law and internal policies. Additionally, you will work closely with senior management to ensure operational processes align with business objectives, creating a productive and efficient working environment. This role requires a strong background in employee relations and a proven ability to lead both HR and operational functions.
Key Responsibilities:
HR Responsibilities:
- Lead the HR function, ensuring that all processes align with business needs and compliance requirements
- Manage employee relations (ER) issues, including grievances, disciplinary matters, performance management, and conflict resolution
- Provide expert advice to managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and employment law
- Oversee the recruitment, onboarding, and induction processes to ensure a smooth transition for new hires
- Ensure the consistent application of HR policies and procedures across the organization
- Support employee engagement and retention initiatives to foster a positive work environment
- Oversee the learning and development function, identifying training needs and organizing appropriate solutions
- Manage absence, sickness, and performance issues in a proactive and effective manner
- Ensure all HR records and employee data are maintained and compliant with GDPR regulations
- Prepare and present HR reports and metrics to senior management, providing insights on HR trends
Operations Responsibilities:
- Work closely with senior leadership to ensure operational processes are efficient and aligned with the company’s objectives
- Manage day-to-day operational activities, ensuring that the business runs smoothly and effectively
- Review and optimize internal processes to drive efficiency and productivity across departments
- Support budgeting, resource allocation, and other operational planning activities
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to improve cross-functional operations and solve business challenges
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, as well as other relevant operational standards
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an HR Manager, HR and Operations Manager, or a similar role with a strong focus on employee relations
- Extensive experience managing employee relations (ER) issues, including handling disciplinary matters, grievances, and performance issues
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices
- Demonstrated experience in operational management, process improvement, and leading teams
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with senior management and build strong relationships across departments
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with an eye for detail
- Experience with HR systems and operational tools/software
Desirable:
- CIPD qualification (Level 5 or higher)
- Experience working in a fast-paced or rapidly growing company
- Previous experience managing change and transformation initiatives
