VP of Engineering

Net Talent has partnered exclusively with a UK remote first SaaS business who are going through an exciting period of growth.

There are looking to bring in a VP of Engineering who will be responsible for leading and scaling their engineering function, overseeing strategy, resource allocation, technical direction and ensuring the team continues to deliver to their high standards.

You will play an important part of the Senior Leadership Team, managing and engineering team of 16 including 7 direct reports across made of an Engineering Manager, Tech Leads and a QA function whilst working cross functionally with Product, Security, Customer and Sales Teams.

As part of the full remit of this role you will have responsibility for the following:

Skills & Experience Required

  • Security & Compliance Expertise: Experience in leading security initiatives, ensuring compliance with industry standards like ISO, SOC2, and GDPR.
  • AI & Machine Learning Experience: Familiarity with AI-driven technologies and their application within SaaS products, ensuring AI integration is optimised for scalability and customer impact.
  • Proven Engineering Leadership: Experience managing engineering teams at a SaaS company or scale-up, ideally leading 10 engineers.
  • Execution-First Mindset: Relentlessly focus on outcomes, cut inefficiencies, and get shit done. Drive execution at speed, ensuring projects deliver real impact without unnecessary delays or over-engineering.
  • Strategic Thinker & Tactical Executor: Comfortable setting long-term direction while rolling up your sleeves to solve immediate challenges.
  • Strong Technical Background: Deep understanding of backend engineering, ideally PHP Laravel, Lumen) and AWS infrastructure would be ideal but any technical background is considered.
  • Process Optimisation & Delivery Focus: Experience improving engineering velocity while maintaining high-quality output.
  • Excellent Communication & Stakeholder Management: Ability to engage with engineers, leadership, and customers to drive outcomes.
  • Hands-On, No-Nonsense Approach: Comfortable navigating ambiguity, making tough calls, and ensuring things get done.

Please note: This is a fully remote role but you must be based in The UK. They also offer an optional 4 day work week.
